Band Coach + Drum Coach
Role at ROC Star Academy: Band Coach & Drum Coach

What is your favorite part of coaching at ROC Star Academy?
I can relate to every student at ROC Star Academy. Being a kid in the program since the beginning has made me realize what a modern, aspiring musician TRULY wants to do. I enjoy teaching the proper technique and theory, while still having as much fun as possible!
Hometown: Spencerport, NY
Your musical focus/instruments you play:
Drums, Guitar, Bass, Keys, Vocals, Live Performance
When did you start pursuing music?
I started learning piano when I was 4 years old (1999). I started to get into learning/performing guitar and drums in high school.
What is your musical background?
I took piano lessons from ages 5 to 18. Self-taught guitar and drums when I was 14, and still learning now! Went to Camp ROC Star as a student for the first 5 years, and have been teaching ever since.
What are your musical influences/favorite bands?
Dave Grohl’s drumming, John Mayer’s blues playing/live-face making, Led Zeppelin, Jack White, The Used, Blink-182.
What is your “deserted island” album?
"Take Off Your Pants and Jacket" by Blink-182 (the deluxe version if I was lucky).
What is your favorite venue or event that you’ve performed?
New Years Eve 2019 at Bar Louie with The Fallen!
What’s the craziest thing that ever happened to you on-stage?
My main kick pedal broke on the first hit, and I had to use my left foot (the double bass pedal) for the rest of the song. Same show: my drumstick broke and I totally forgot to put extra sticks close to me. I got my backpack, unzipped it, and got an extra stick while one-arm playing the song (as best as I could). Lesson learned: ALWAYS be prepared for anything.
What’s the best piece of musical advice you’ve received in your career thus far?
“Don’t let what people think get in the way of your musical creativity.”
